Listen to peaMonitor
Now and then when we come across a great idea or service we like to share it. That is where peaMonitor comes in. Its a great little, and in most cases free, service to monitor your sites up time. With peaMonitor you can get an alert when your site goes down or becomes unresponsive. All plans even include SMS alert capabilities, something that most other free services do not include.
Features
peaMonitor has some industry leading features as well. It cannot only monitor if a page responds or not, but it can also monitor the status code that a page is producing. This is critical if you have an application that is prone to erroring out, but still staying online. Most other monitors will still return an up indication even if your site is stuck in a 500 error, so you would never know that there is an issue on your site.
It also has the ability to monitor your emails to see if your server has been added to a blacklist. Deliverability is one of the biggest problems we hear about concerning emails, why are they not being delivered, or why are they going to the spam folder for my customers. We hear those daily. With the black list monitor, those problems can be solved as soon as they are detected, creating less of an issue for your site and your customers.
Another cool feature is status pages. If you are a developer or a host, you can create custom status pages that your clients can view. That way they can see their uptime statistics in real time. Or if you run a SaaS service, they can see the uptime stats of your service in real time. Its a very handy feature.
Multiple locations is another must have feature included as well. Is your site geo-targeted to a region? No problem, they support 9 different geo-locations in different regions. Using localization methods also reduce false positives as well. Like say your site only sells to the EU, but a line from the EU to the US goes down. If you have a US based uptime monitor, then you will get a notification, even though in reality your site is not affected. That is a great example which makes the geo-location feature really helpful.

You can get started with peaMoitor for free, its quick and simple, just visit their site, sign up for an account, and enter the sites you want monitored. Easy peasy, you can be up and running in under 10 minutes.
