You don't like the default grid view Prestashop uses in Categories?
There is a simple way to switch it to a classical list, and present that instead to your first-time customers. Reach the Modules page in the Prestashop Back Office, then look for a module named "Theme Configurator".
Click Configure, scroll down to Display categories as a list of products instead of the default grid-based display and set it to Yes.
